Immune Boosting Green Smoothie

This smoothie is with protein, so it can be post-workout too. Full of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, healthy oils, protein and fibre – it’s a proper boost and an excellent drink after a run or as a meal replacement. Ginger is warming, anti-bacterial and an antioxidant. You can add more of it if you like spicier taste.  Cayenne pepper increases metabolism and the rest of ingredients are full of B, C, E, zinc, potassium, etc. I used Solaray’s Supreme Meal protein which is fortified with vitamins and minerals too (and which I highly recommend). It is made of peas, quinoa and amaranth. You can use any other green protein, like hemp, pea or pumpkin. Regular natural yogurt can be used instead of soy, but it must be sugar-free.

This should be enough for 2 full glasses:

  1. 1 large or 2 medium banana
  2. 200ml natural soy yogurt (sugar free)
  3. 1-2 tbsp agave nectar or raw honey
  4. 1.5 – 2 inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
  5. 1.5 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  6. Juice of 1 lemon
  7. 1 green apple, washed and sliced
  8. 1.5 – 2 scoops of green protein of your choice (depends on scoop) – TIP: when throwing things into blender, put protein in the middle or it will not blend in properly.

Blend all ingredients in blender until smooth, pour into glasses and serve immediately.
